Visitors and revenues in Greek museums recorded a 26 percent and 25.5 percent rise respectively in May 2017 compared to the same month in 2016, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Friday.
The number of free admission visitors in May rose by 29.7 percent.
Visitors to archaeological sites showed a 26.6 percent rise and revenues increased by 19.3 percent in May 2017 compared to the same month in 2016. Free admission tickets posted a 49.7 percent increase.
In the period January-May 2017 visitors to Greek museums grew by 17.6 percent, revenues increased by 23.7 percent and free admission tickets increased by 11.6 percent.
In the same period the number of visitors to archaeological sites increased by 19.6 percent and revenues posted a 23.4 percent increase. Free admission tickets increased by 19.3 percent.
