Greek Tourism: Athens walking tours steadily on the rise

Athens enchants tourists with its cultural heritage while guided tours of the Acropolis thrill its visitors, making them one of the most popular ways to learn about the rich past of the city.

A walking tour and escort by an experienced guide costs 29 euros per person, noted Athens Walking Tours Marketing Manager Anthoula Yoldassi on Greece’s Star TV channel.

Yoldassi pointed out that this is the ideal way to discover the history of the city, as proven by the skyrocketing demand by visitors for such tours in recent years.

It is no coincedence that Greece’s relevant ministry has focused on attracting tourists who almost do not care about sun and sea vacations.

Such tourists inject money in Athens’ central economy, which attracts incoming traffic all year round, according to Star’s report.

TV journalist Maria Themeli followed a group of three British, five German, six Spanish and two Australian tourists who booked a tour to discover the Ancient Agora and enthusiastically satisfied their thirst for ancient Greek culture.
