After celebrating twenty successful years of introducing Greek food to Canada, Greek-Canadian fast food chain “Opa! of Greece” has announced its new plans to expand into the U.S. market, according to greekreporter.com
Opa! of Greece is hoping to be prepared by late spring 2019, confirming that they will be headed to the Fashion Show mall on the Las Vegas Strip. This will mark the brand’s very first move into the U.S. market, but the company is open to the possibility of expansion to other locales as well.
The exact size and location of the restaurant on the Strip has yet to be announced.
Launched in 1998 and currently operating in 94 locations from British Columbia to Ontario, Opa! restaurants range from mall counter-service stalls to comfortable, sit-down establishments.
In a recent interview the chain’s CEO, Theodore “Dorris” Karras, referred to the spirit of “Opa!”, an exclamation used by Greeks while listening to popular music and dancing with family and friends.
“Opa!” is a Greek word used to express happiness, and evokes the joy and celebration of feasting with loved ones.
“We offered fresh, real food prepared right in front of customers to their specifications,” noted Karras. “Though this kind of customization has come to be expected by consumers today, twenty years ago, it was a novel idea.”
