Imports of fresh fruit and vegetables grew by 33.5 pct in volume and 23.4 pct in value in the first three months of 2019 compared with the same period last year, Incofruit-Hellas said in a report released on Tuesday, according to ANA.
The volume of imports totaled 244,240 tons and their value 181.75 million euros in the January-March period. Import of vegetables soared 58.9 pct in volume and 74.4 pct in value in the three-month period (163,546 tons worth 102 million euros). Imports of potatoes jumped 55.1 pct in volume and 129.5 pct in value in the first three months while imports of tomatoes soared 114 pct in volume and 78.5 pct in value. Imports of fruits were up 0.9 pct in volume but fell 10.2 pct in value over the same period.
