British Ambassador Kate Smith met with regional director of Crete island’s Stavros Arnaoutakis on Monday and discussed tourism, investments, and economic cooperation between Britain and Greece.
The regional director referred especially to Cretan products with the brand name “Kriti”, and said the island offered investment opportunities and was a safe place for tourists. The island administration was also working on extending the tourism period, which would contribute to economic development.
Smith referred to the outstanding ties between the two countries and Crete’s popularity with British tourists. She spoke highly of the high-quality tourism services, the Cretan cuisine, the natural environment and the long cultural history of the island and said that Britain’s economic cooperation with Crete can be further expanded.
