Greek Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis met with U.S. Ambassador in Athens Geoffrey Pyatt at the Ministry on Thursday, ANA reports.
The two officials discussed issues such as the promotion of direct air links between Greece and the U.S. so as to increase the number of American tourists coming to Greece as well as attracting major film productions to shoot on location.
The minister referred to a strategic plan for the further development of tourism relations via the strengthening of special types of alternative tourism, such as scuba diving, where Greek seas offer a wealth of marine environments for exploration.
The U.S. ambassador referred to the importance of Astypalea for tourism, as the first smoke-free island globally, along with the keen interest of U.S. enterprises to invest in tourism infrastructure in Greece.
