As the EU and International Monetary Fund (IMF) are still not in agreement about the course of action for securing Greece’s finances over the discourse of the next 3 years, the eurozone Finance Ministry officials have scheduled a meeting for Thursday aiming at unfreezing the stalled bailout negotiations and discussing the IMF’s participation in the third bailout.
One of the main issues the two groups are in disagreement about the extent in which austerities should be placed on Greece as well as the type and timing of debt relief that should be offered to the financially crippled country.
Greece’s Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras insists that the talks regarding the third bailout and its austerity program are going to go forward and that he anticipates Greece receiving debt relief from its international lenders.
