Report: Greece remains largest investor in Albania

Greece continues to be the biggest investor in Albania, leaving behind countries which may have bigger economic potential, Bank of Albania (BoA) said on Tuesday.

According to Bank of Albania, the foreign direct investments made by Greece in Albania amounted to 1,222 million euros during the first quarter of this year, compared to 1,175 million euros in 2016.

Economic experts noted that the Greek investments will continue to maintain the upward trend in the upcoming years as the interest of Greek companies to expand their activity here is growing.

Meanwhile, BoA data recorded that Greece is followed by the Netherlands as Dutch investments in Albania amounted to 869 million euros in Q1 2017 as opposed to 688 million euros a year ago.

Canada ranks third in the list of countries which have chosen to invest in Albania.The amount of Canadian investments reached 839 million euros in Q1 this year, the central bank’s experts added.
