The profits resulting from Greek bonds amounting to 644 million euros held by European central banks, were disbursed to our country, in line with a recent Eurogroup decision in December. Discussions are underway about their investment in development goals, int.ert.gr reports.
Finance Minister Christos Staikouras announced in a statement that a new early repayment of part of the IMF loan, totaling 5.5 billion euros, would be sought.
A key prerequisite for the ESM to “give the green light” for this move, is that the bonds that will be issued, should be at an interest rate below 1.9% which is the average interest rate on IMF loans, currently.
