Disbursement of Greek bond profits announced by Finance Ministry

The profits resulting from Greek bonds amounting to 644 million euros held by European central banks, were disbursed to our country, in line with a recent Eurogroup decision in December. Discussions are underway about their investment in development goals, int.ert.gr reports.

Finance Minister Christos Staikouras announced in a statement that a new early repayment of part of the IMF loan, totaling 5.5 billion euros, would be sought.

A key prerequisite for the ESM to “give the green light” for this move, is that the bonds that will be issued, should be at an interest rate below 1.9% which is the average interest rate on IMF loans, currently.
