Nearly 54,000 more households will receive the social dividend, government spokesperson Stelios Petsas said to ANT1 TV on Tuesday.
The government’s intention is to grant the dividend to beneficiaries on Monday or Tuesday while those who have made an appeal that has been approved will receive the dividend in early January.
A total of 1.6 billion euros has been granted this year, an amount that is twice the one offered last year.
The government spokesman underlined that there will be a permanent mechanism to support low pensioners which will become finalized in the coming period while the funding has been provided in 2020 State Budget.
He also added that that the government has promised a double increase in minimum wage based on growth rates. As he said, the target for 700 euro minimum wage is now closer.
