Τhe priority of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) in the wake of the pandemic crisis is to safeguard the country’s reputation as a top tourism destination, Yiannis Retsos, president of the Confederation said on Thursday, according to ANA.
Addressing SETE’s annual assembly, Retsos noted that safeguarding the country’s reputation was at the top of its priorities as the country had successfully dealt with the pandemic and was working to ensure the safety of visitors, supporting workers and limiting its losses.
Retsos stressed that tourism will soon become a leader and unveiled plans for drafting a new National Growth Contract in the period 2021-2030 that will highlight Greece as a mature and safe tourism destination, whose aims are not recorded arrivals each year but to offer high-quality services and achieve sustainable growth.
Retsos pointed out the tourism industry was preparing for 2021 by taking advantage of the positive reputation that the country has gained in recent months and asked the government to expand a reduction of VAT for travel packages, a friendlier investment environment, and a modern tax framework.
