The Greek government extended on Thursday the deadline for annual tax returns to August 31, to allow nearly a quarter of a million taxpayers to file without fines and penalties, ANA reports.

Finance Minister Christos Staikouras announced that the decision has been signed by Deputy FM Apostolos Vesyropoulos to help taxpayers file between 200,000 and 250,000 outstanding returns. The original deadline was Friday, August 28.
