President Nicos Anastasiades has discussed the latest developments in the Cyprus talks with European officials on Wednesday, after convergences were not achieved in Mont Pelerin, Switzerland.
In a post on Twitter, government spokesperson Nikos Christodoulides said that European Parliament President Martin Schulz and Anastasiades had discussed the Cyprus problem over the phone.
The President has also spoken on the phone with European Council President Donald Tusk, the government spokesperson announced on Twitter.
Tusk on his part tweeted that he expressed his support for the ongoing efforts and talks to President Anastasiades.
Yesterday, Schulz had tweeted that both sides need to continue reunification talks.
Disagreement in Mont Pelerin
Meanwhile, President Anastasiades will be holding a press conference on Wednesday evening to inform the public on the talks and the way forward following disagreement in Mont Pelerin.
On Sunday and Monday, President Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci met in Switzerland to discuss the issue of territorial adjustment.
Despite efforts made in Mont Pelerin, the UN announced early on Tuesday morning that convergences had not been reached.
Following the impasse reached, the Greek Cypriot side had said that they did not want to play a blame game and that Mont Pelerin talks were not the end of the road.
However, the Turkish Cypriot leader had assigned some responsibilities to the Greek Cypriot side, saying that they should be realistic.
