The National Council is meeting on Monday to be informed by President Nicos Anastasiades on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, and the second conference on Cyprus expected to take place in mid-March, Radio Proto reported.
President Anastasiades had announced that he will convene a meeting of the National Council to brief the leaders of the parliamentary parties, which comprise the National Council, on the latest developments in the UN-led peace talks.
The President has invited the party leaders, who disagree with the way negotiations are being conducted, to submit their proposals in writing.
The meeting of the Cyprus problem advisory body is being attended by DISY head Averof Neophytou, AKEL Secretary General Andros Kyprianou, DIKO head Nicholas Papadopoulos, EDEK head Marinos Sizopoulos, Symmachia Politon leader Yiorgos Lillikas, the head of the Solidarity movement Eleni Theocharous, and the Green Party head Giorgos Perdikis.
President Anastasiades has said that a new meeting of the National Council will take place after all the proposals on negotiations are submitted.
Tomorrow, the negotiating teams of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot side are expected to meet to discuss the remaining issues in the judicial powers of a potential Cyprus solution.
On Thursday, the President will hold a conference along with Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis, and legal experts to review and analyse the existing facts, discussions, goals, and strategy in the Cyprus talks.
