Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades said that he will not enter into a “blame game” in regards to statements made the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot side on Cyprus talks that abruptly ended on Thursday.
In a written statement on Friday, the President reassured the Turkish Cypriot community that he is “ready and decided to continue the ongoing talks,” to find a solution, based on the UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, as well as the unanimous declarations of the National Council.
President Anastasiades added that he is honest intention is to find a solution, which responds to the concerns and also the prospects of “the whole of the Cypriot people, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots”.
“Therefore, if the same determination can be distinguished on the other side, I urge the Turkish Cypriot leader to be present at the next scheduled meeting, so that through a constructive dialogue those conditions that will allow us to be optimistic about a positive outcome can be created,” the President said.
On Thursday talks were ended abruptly, when Akinci left the meeting.
