Fofi Gennimata is the leader of the new center-left party in Greece

Ms Fofi Gennimata is the winner of the second round of the elections for the leadership of Greece’s new center-left party accumulating 57% of the votes against 43% of her opponent, Mr. Nikos Androulakis.

It is recalled that the rates of the round were: 41,27% for Fofi Gennimata and 24,73% for Nikos Androulakis. About 156,000 citizens took part in the second round of elections.

In a statement of hers Ms Gennimata thanked the thousands of progressive citizens who came to the polls for a second time in a week and underlined that she is fully aware of the responsibilities of the pure mandate given by the citizens.

On the other hand, Nikos Androulakis, also thanked the hundreds of thousands of democratic citizens who responded to the existential dilemma of the democratic faction and committed to the party’s unity through the new perspective.

Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos has telephoned the winner of centre-left leadership election Fofi Gennimata to congratulate her on her victory, sources reported on Monday.
