Greece and North Macedonia upgrade their liaison offices to embassies

Greece and North Macedonia on Friday exchanged notes verbales that upgrade their liaison and consular offices to embassies and consulates-general, respectively, in accordance with the provisions of the agreements settling the differences between the two countries, ANA reports.

“The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of North Macedonia, pursuant to Article 10 of the Final Agreement for the Settlement of the Differences as Described in the United Nations Security Council Resolutions 817 (1993) and 845 (1993), the Termination of the Interim Accord of 1995, and the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between the Parties, today proceeded to exchange Notes Verbales to upgrade the Liaison Office of Greece in Skopje to an Embassy and the Office for Consular, Economic, and Commercial Affairs in Bitola to a Consulate-General and, correspondingly, the upgrading of the Liaison Office of North Macedonia in Athens to an Embassy and the Office for Consular, Economic, and Commercial Affairs in Thessaloniki to a Consulate-General,” a Greek foreign ministry announcement noted.
