According to the draft, the European Union leaders will declare that the Turkey-Libya agreement on the delimitation of maritime jurisdiction in the Mediterranean is void and that it violates international law, justifying Greece, int.ert.gr reports.
Just before leaving for the Belgian capital, the Greek prime minister sent a clear message to Ankara noting that Greece’s calm attitude should not be misinterpreted.
At today’s European Council meeting in Brussels, the PM will raise the issue of Turkish infringement in all its dimensions. The government’s firm position is to internationalize Turkey’s offenses and isolate her politically.
In the morning, Mr. Mitsotakis will attend the EPP Summit where he will have a meeting with its new president, Donald Tusk, with whom he will discuss the Turkish provocative behavior. On the sidelines of the Summit, Mitsotakis is also expected to meet with new European Council President Charles Michel.
Greek Parliament Speaker Konstantinos Tasoulas will meet with his Libyan counterpart, who has declared the memorandum with Turkey as a void in a letter to the UN. Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias will also be present at the meeting.
