Draft law on the right to demonstrate to be tabled by Greek government

The Greek government will table a draft law to the Parliament concerning marches and demonstrations, especially when they are small in numbers, in order to avoid inconvenience for the general public, int.ert.gr reports.

The bill will establish a new framework featuring restrictions and conditions regarding mobilizations, aiming at avoiding the occupation of roads and sidewalks by small groups of demonstrators.

Each demonstration should be planned, its announcement will bear the organizer’s name and depending on its volume, it will be decided whether the demonstrators will march on the street or on the sidewalk if they will march along an avenue or a lane, as well as which streets will be closed during mass demonstrations.
