Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who attended Thursday’s panel titled ‘Europe’s Green New Deal’ at the Economic Forum at Davos, heard how he is the most environmentally friendly prime minister Greece has ever had, by the panel’s moderator Penny Abeywardena, New York City’s Commissioner for International Affairs, ANA reports.
Mitsotakis was joined by the European Commission’s Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans, and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
“We have many reasons to be paying special attention to this issue, which does not come from the future but is actually already here, we even see it in Greece,” said Mitsotakis and continued how “we have to work on a very ambitious agenda,” referring to the government’s goals to significantly reduce the use of plastics by 2023 and to stop lignite production by 2028.
