Greece and Albania have agreed to take the maritime zones issue to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, during a meeting between Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, int.ert.gr reports.
“Having thoroughly considered the issue, we agreed that Greece and Albania should jointly submit this issue to international justice, at the International Court of Justice in The Hague,” Dendias told reporters after his meeting with Albanian Premier Edi Rama.
“This agreement is based on the two countries’ firm commitment to international legitimacy and the principle of peaceful settlement of disputes”, Dendias noted.
“We have agreed that the maritime zones issue should be handled by international bodies”, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama pointed out during the joint statements.
Regarding bilateral relations, Mr. Rama said that today, they are better than ever and described Greece as a strategic partner and a valuable country in Albania’s European integration process.
