Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” earned yet more prizes and accolades in April 2019, while its ranking and passenger traffic figures continued to improve, according to figures released by AIA, ANA reports.
Passenger traffic in April 2019 rose 6.5 pct to reach 1.98 million passengers, with domestic passengers increasing marginally by 0.5 pct and international passengers growing strongly by 9.1 pct. Passenger traffic during the first four months of the year reached 6.36 million passengers, up 8.5 pct overall, with strong growth for both domestic passengers (6.3 pct) and international (9.6 pct).
During the past year, the airport attracted 62 new routes as well as four new airlines. It also came first in the annual ASQ awards of the Airports Council International (ACI World) in the 15-25 million passengers category, in recognition of efforts to provide outstanding passenger services.
