Greek hoteliers' head: Measures announced by government first step for restarting tourism sector

“The measures announced by the government constitute the first step for restarting tourism, and for supporting enterprises and workers under the deep shadow cast by the economic repercussions of the pandemic,” noted the president of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels Alexandros Vassilikos on Thursday.

Additional explanations and clarifications on certain aspects of the measures will undoubtedly be required, while some others will need to be enriched and reinforced, he pointed out.

“In any case, this year’s tourist season is a complex riddle with no easy solutions and the only target is to salvage whatever can be salvaged,” Vassilikos stressed, adding that at this historically difficult moment for the Greek hotels “we must show courage, hold our heads high and work together, even harder, to win the next season and to build the future of tourism by addressing long-standing problems in the sector.”
