On the basis of the results of the Passengers Survey, arrivals of tourists reached 169.392 in November 2019 compared to 158.685 in November 2018, recording an increase of 6,7%. November 2019 had the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the specific month.
For the period of January – November 2019 arrivals of tourists totaled 3.866.447 compared to 3.832.062 in the corresponding period of 2018, recording an increase of 0,9% and outnumbering the total arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the first eleven months of the year.
Analysis of changes
Tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom increased by 10,4% in November 2019 compared to November 2018 while an increase of 8,9% was recorded for tourists from Russia and 59,3% increase from Israel. A decrease of 6,0% in tourist arrivals from Greece and 33,5% from Germany were recorded. Percentage changes from one year to the next for the main countries of usual residence of tourists.
Main countries
The United Kingdom constitutes the main source of tourism for Cyprus for November 2019, with a proportion of 32,6% while arrivals from Russia comprise 13,7% of total arrivals, from Greece 8,6% and from Israel 7,7%.
Purpose of visit
For a percentage of 70,6% of tourists, the purpose of their trip in November 2019 was holidays, for 13,9% visit to friends and relatives and for 15,5% business.
