Athens municipality crews arrived in Exarchia Square early on Thursday morning and began work to clean up and give the central Athens square a “facelift” that the municipality promises will have a permanent nature.
The municipality has proceeded to add new plants, upkeep existing greenery, replace bulbs in street lights, repair electrical damage and replace broken or worn paving stones. They are also painting benches and posts and have washed down the square with a special cleaning fluid, removing large objects that had been left there, while they cleaned and carried out maintenance work on a statue that is in the square.
