Easter traffic measures announced ahead of expected massive vacationers outings in Greece

Athens has started to gradually empty out, as many vacationers are getting into the spirit of Easter holidays and find several ways to escape the city in order to enjoy traditional and quite times in their hometowns.

Meteorologists have said that holidaymakers should expect Spring weather and normal temperatures during the Easter holiday.

The Central Bus Station of Kifisos is quite busy but covers all the needs and demands; no delays and problems have been reported so far.

In addition, traffic has also increased in Piraeus Port, as ships are expected to be packed with vehicles and sail toward islands after Thursday morning.

Special traffic measures will be adopted on Greece’s national highways as of Holy Thursday due to the Easter holidays.

Greek police have announced they will increase patrols on the national road network, especially near major cities, airports, bus terminals, ports, railway adopted stations and toll stations.

Trucks over 1.5 tons will be banned from traveling on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Monday at predetermined hours and on specific parts of the national road network.

Traffic police have warned that severe fines will be imposed in cases of irregular driving behavior.

In Thessaloniki, Road Traffic Police will implement additional measures along the national and rural road system, as well as in basic spots in the entrances and exits to and from the city.
