Kids act out at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in Athens

In celebration of the World Theater Day and the World Children’s Book Day, the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, in cooperation with Sokolis Publications, on the occasion of the latter’s new “Children’s Theater” book series, welcomes children and invites them on a journey to the world of theater.

On Saturday, March 17, children will be shown around the Foundation’s Center Stage; they will dress up, sing, dance, and perform Shakespearean as well as other roles.

The day’s events begin at noon, with an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night Dream” by Chryssa Spiliotis. In the adaptation, specially designed for children, participants get to know the Bard, before taking to the stage, and improvising with the help of Chryssa Spiliotis and a team of actors in order to bring to life the Elves and Fairies of the Enchanted Forest.

Right after, at 1pm, children can catch the Tilemachos Tsardakas play, “The girl who insists,” with music by Dionysis Bastas. The author and the composer of the performance will talk to kids about the play, and the legend of Eurydice and Orpheus, while a team of actors will present a scene from the play. The event will conclude with a theatrical game on Greek mythology and ancient heroes.
