A cyber-punk opera inspired by Plato’s allegorical text “The Cave”, will be presented at the Athens Concert Hall on October 9 and 10 at 21.00.
“The Cave” by Elli Papakonstantinou, which will be performed in English, is at the intersection between opera, cinema and new technologies and a radical performance that calls for critical reflection on fake news, post truth and the digital world. Shadow puppetry, new media, visuals and music are all performed in real time by a cast of four. Challenged to reflect on the walls we construct around us with sarcasm, Socrates is a robot, while mythological creatures appear as shadows from another world that is too close to ours.
The ODC Ensemble, founded by Elli Papakonstantinou (Fulbright Artist’s Award 2018-2019), brings today’s eternal conflict of Knowledge and Truth with their distortion in the chaotic world of fake news and fake internet life.
