The Benaki Museum (Pireos) presents a solo exhibition by Soloup (Antonis Nikolopoulos) which is based on his new graphic novel The Collector: Six stories about a bad wolf, through to March 17, 2019, int.ert.gr reports.
It is a modern fairy tale about the sense of alienation children experience following their parents’ divorce. The exhibition includes original material from the artist’s graphic novel (storyboards, drafts, pencil sketches, black and white and color pages) and is divided into two sections. The first, features a monologue performed by the protagonist Dionysis, who after his divorce, finds himself unexpectedly alienated from his daughter Fotini. In the second, we find the famous Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale seen in a different light, which is based on a variant as recorded by the Grimm brothers.
Soloup (Antonis Nikolopoulos) is a political cartoonist and comic book author. He has a Ph.D. from the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication at the University of the Aegean and has studied Political Sciences at Panteion University. He has published 14 comic book albums, the essay “The Greek Comics” and the graphic novel “Aivali” (Kedros) which has been awarded “Best Comics 2015” and “Best Screenplay” at the Greek Comics Awards and with the “Coup de Coeur 2016” at the 17th Rendezvous du Carnet De Voyage Festival (Clermont Ferrand / France) and has been translated into French (Steinkis), Turkish (Istos), and is currently being translated into other languages.
