The leading international record label Edition of Contemporary Music (ECM) has announced that its annual meeting of artists and representatives from around the world will be held in the city of Thessaloniki from March 1 to 3, to mark the 50th anniversary of the company’s founding, ANA reports.
The meeting will be attended by the founder of ECM, Μanfred Eiche, who was recently made an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music in London, and will be closed to the general public.
On Saturday, March 2, representatives of the new generation of ECM artists will give a concert at the TCH’s Emilios Riadis Hall, with Norwegian bass player Mats Eilertsen and his trio presenting their new album, entitled “And Then Comes The Night”, inspired by the northern landscapes familiar from works of ECM artists.
Moreover, Albanian artist Elina Duni will present her own renditions of great songs that traversed the European continent and also personal memories from her country, which are included in her album “Partir”.
The evening will close with Sokratis Sinopoulos and his Quartet in the world premiere of his new compositions collectively titled “Meta-modal”.
