Under the auspices of the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney, the Hellenic Club will be hosting the Australian Hellenic Choir’s inaugural Soiree this Sunday 13 October at 3:30 pm at Alpha Restaurant, in Sydney, Australia, greekcitytimes.com reports.
The Choir will perform a variety of popular songs from the golden age of Constantinople, as well as other Greek composers. The music has been arranged and adapted for the choir by Maestro Mr. Themos Mexis who will also be present some of his compositions on the piano.
“The Australian Hellenic Choir is a multi-cultural and multi-lingual group formed to bring the best music of the world to Australian and Greek audiences,” noted Mr. James Tsolakis, Founder, and President of the Choir.
“Our vision is to support performers and events and to perform in our own right and to bring people together in song. After 6 months of hard work, the Choir is ready to present a taste of its repertoire to the wider Australian Community of Sydney,” Tsolakis added.
The afternoon event is $70 per person and the net proceeds will be donated to the Newtown Soup Kitchen, which feeds the poor and homeless in Sydney and is managed by the Greek Orthodox Church Saints Constantine and Helen.
Tickets for the event are available from the Hellenic Club direct by calling Sophie Balayannis on +61 418 352 637 or by emailing info@hellenicclub.net.au.
