Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the Lonsdale Street Greek Festival ‘Antipodes’ cannot take place, according to greekcitytimes.com.
Nevertheless, the Greek Community of Melbourne is proud to organize the ‘Lonsdale Street Greek Music Festival’, which takes place this weekend on Saturday the 20th and Sunday 21st of March at Lonsdale Street’s Golden Square Carpark.
This event is part of the Greece21 program which strives to mark the bicentenary of the Greek War of Independence through a yearlong program filled with various diverse happenings.
On Saturday the event will commence at 5 pm with Totally Kicking Brass being the opening act for the festival. Following them will be The Philhellenes, Byron and Friends, and Cats and the Canary.
On Sunday, at 1:30 pm, the Paskalia Ensemble will be opening followed by EpiroAko Ensemble, Agapi and Friends, Sifis Tsourdalakis, and Anagennisi as the closing act.
Each band will play for an hour with 30 minutes in between each act.
This two-day event will also be home to Melbourne’s greatest Greek food trucks.
