Live performances and screenings of taped opera performances will take place at the Megaron Garden of the Athens Concert Hall this summer, ANA reports.
The music performances will include one honoring composer Lena Platonos that will include Maria Farantouri, Savina Yannatou, Dimitra Galani, and Constantinos Vita (July 7), while musicians Nalyssa Green, Sugahspank! and Lou will perform on July 1.
Unitel, a production and distribution agency for cultural events, will provide screenings of “Carmen” performed in Verona (June 22), “Madame Butterfly” performed in Bregenz (July 6), and two Vienna Philharmonic performances including soloist pianist Martha Argerich and violinist Leonidas Kavakos, conducted by Zubin Mehta and Herbert Blomstedt (June 29, July 13, respectively). The screenings are free of charge.
Furthermore, Alfred Hitchcock’s silent film “The Lodger” will be screened at the Megaron Garden, accompanied by Stathis Anninos on the piano (June 30).
