The highly successful model of Greek Ikos Resorts expands to the Iberian Peninsula, with a newly established company, Ikos International SCA, based in Luxembourg.
The shareholder structure of the new company is largely the same as that already existing in LBRI SARL, the owner and manager of Sani Resort and Ikos Resorts in Greece.
Ikos International SCA will be jointly managed by Andreas Andreadis, former Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) president, and Mathieu Guillemin, CEO of the LBRI luxury resort platform which owns and operates Sani Resort and Ikos Resorts.
Ikos International will use the Ikos Resorts brand as well as LBRI’s sales and marketing and training services under a franchise contract to be signed between the two firms.
Ikos International has already purchased the Costa del Sol Princess Hotel in Marbella, Andalusia, which will be radically reformed with the aim of creating the new luxury Ikos Andalusia with a capacity of around 400 rooms and suites.
It will be the first Ikos Resorts in Spain and is set to open in the spring of 2020.
For this project, new funds will be invested in the amount of approximately 150 million euros.
The fifth resort under the brand name of Ikos Resorts
Ikos Andalusia will be the fifth resort that operates under the brand name of Ikos Resorts after the new Ikos Dassia in Corfu, which is expected to welcome its first visitors in May, and the new Ikos Aria in Kos, slated to open its doors to the public in 2019.
Ikos Resorts remain a Greek brand and their management plans new units in Greece during the coming years. Its expansion into competitive markets abroad, such as Spain, which is the world’s leading tourism market, generates economies of scale, promotes a new image of Greek tourism and enhances the connection of high-end tourists as well as partner networks, travel agencies and airlines, to the Greek market.
At the same time, it is possible for the executives of the Greek tourism market to use their experience and to broaden their horizons in a globalized sector such as tourism.
