The Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center has been licensed by the Greek Health Ministry to perform lung transplants, in cooperation with the Attikon University General Hospital and the Sismanoglio General Hospital of Attica, the center announced on Wednesday, ANA reports.
According to the National Transplant Organization, 13 Greek patients are approved every year for lung transplantation in clinics abroad and 92 for post-op checkups. The average annual cost of 2,600,000 euros for transplants corresponds to 26 pct of all organ transplants performed outside of Greece. The average annual cost of post-op checkups for patients with transplants is 460,000 euros, corresponding to 46 pct of all post-op checkups abroad.
