GEOTHIRA: New ticket prices and access regulations at the Nea Kameni Volcanic Park

GEOTHIRA S.A. sets out the new pricing policy for the operation and access to the Geological–Volcanic Park of Nea Kameni for 2026, establishing clear rules for entrance tickets, reduced and free-admission categories, as well as for special uses such as film productions and educational seminars.

General admission to the Nea Kameni Volcanic Park is set at EUR 5 per visitor, regardless of whether the ticket is purchased at the entrance ticket offices, at the offices of the municipal company, or, once the relevant option is activated, via the official website of GEOTHIRA S.A. At the same time, a reduced price of EUR 3.75 is ??????????ed for tickets distributed through travel agencies, subject to a minimum purchase of 500 tickets and invoicing to the agency. This discount will not apply once electronic ticket sales commence.

Special provision is made for the management of unused tickets from travel agencies, which may be returned by 10 December in order to be offset against the next tourist season, with payment of any price difference, should one arise. A basic prerequisite for cooperation is the settlement or regulation of outstanding debts from previous years to the municipal company.

In parallel, a reduced ticket at 50% of the maximum price is established for specific categories of visitors, such as persons over 65 years of age, students, unemployed and indigent Greek citizens, large families and families with three children, as well as children aged 5 to 12, upon presentation of the necessary supporting documents. Reduced tickets are issued exclusively at the entrance ticket offices of Nea Kameni or at the offices of GEOTHIRA S.A.

Free admission is provided, among others, to permanent residents of Thira and Thirasia, to persons with disabilities of more than 50%, to children up to five years of age, to licensed tour guides with a valid permit, to conscripts, as well as to researchers and scientific teams, following relevant authorization. The same provisions apply to travel agency escorts, as well as to holders of free-admission cards for archaeological sites and monuments.

With regard to film productions on Nea and Palea Kameni, the granting of permission and the determination of the relevant fee are decided on a case-by-case basis by a three-member committee of the Board of Directors of GEOTHIRA S.A. The cost áöïñÜ exclusively the entry of the film crew and includes the tickets of all members. Free admission is provided only for documentary productions aiming to highlight the volcanic and geological wealth of the area, with the possibility of price reassessment following examination of the request.

The pricing policy is complemented by the organization of educational seminars by GEOTHIRA S.A., with a minimum participation fee of EUR 50 and a 50% reduced fee for tour guides. At the same time, the digital guide application “Santorini Volcano” is provided free of charge to visitors.

Finally, the company reminds that entry to the Volcanic Park is permitted exclusively upon presentation of a ticket or a free-admission certificate and takes place under the sole responsibility of visitors. Particular emphasis is placed on compliance with safety rules and adherence to staff instructions, underlining that this is a natural site with high visitor traffic but also increased protection requirements.
