Another European co-production is being shot in Greece despite the pandemic

A new European co-production has started shooting in Attica, despite the actual situation of the pandemic, int.ert.gr reports.

The film “Mediterraneo”, directed by Marcel Bareno and produced by the Heretic film company of Giorgos Karnavas and Konstantinos Kontovrakis, is currently being shot in the area of Schinias, where the demanding and impressive scenes of sea rescues will be carried out.

The film tells the story of the Catalan lifeguard and activist Oscar Camps, who, on October 2015, a few days after the publication of the photo of 3-year old Aylan from Syria who was found drowned on a Turkish coast that shocked the planet, actively participated in the rescue of 242 people, in one of the deadliest shipwrecks in recent years in the Mediterranean, where another 60 people lost their lives.

This experience led him to create the NGO Open Arms. Camps traveled to Mytilene island where he offered his help to those who needed it. He has spent thousands of hours at sea and has participated in several rescue missions. He has received an award from the European Parliament for his humanitarian work and at the same time, his ship was seized by Italy, on the charge of “human trafficking”.
