Greek Digital Governance Ministry ready to implement whatever experts request

The vaccination platform for vulnerable groups with ‘Class A’ diseases that put them at very high risk for serious illness from Covid-19 opened on Friday, Digital Governance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis said on Friday in an interview with ANT1 TV, according to ANA.

Pierrakakis stressed that the ministry is ready to implement whatever the experts ask, whether it is the vaccines or the measures that should be taken.

The ‘Class A’ diseases group has nearly 243,000 people, he said, adding that this was a complex category and that they must all log onto the emvolio.gov.gr platform, which contains the list of diseases and medications.

As the minister explained, every disease has a code. There are 72,000 codes and of these, the Vaccination Committee has codified about 150 which are for high-risk diseases, while combinations have been made with parameters such as: which drugs one is taking at the same time or how long before one has started treatment.

The minister stated that persons aged 70-74 years will be vaccinated as of next week, followed by 65-69-year-olds and then the category of people with Class B diseases, the less serious diseases among vulnerable groups, which includes about 900,000 people aged 18-60.

Finally, the minister pointed out that the people have responded to the initiatives of the ministry for the simplification of procedures where through gov.gr and the more than 1,100 services provided. “Already, we have recorded that in 2020 there have been 95 million digital transactions, so in a period of the pandemic we saved that number of visits involving the physical presence of citizens,” concluded Pierrakakis.
