Increased traffic measures for mass exodus of Clean Monday holiday in Greece

Greece Police will take extra traffic measures throughout the country between Friday and Monday, February 19 in order to ensure the safe travel of citizens and the prevention of traffic accidents due to the anticipated mass exodus from cities for the holiday of Clean Monday, ANA reported.

The traditional holiday is expected to prompt thousands of city-dwellers to head to their family villages and on weekend breaks, prompting traffic authorities to ramp up patrols on the national highway network amid concerns of traffic accidents due to high spirits on Carnival Sunday and overindulgence on Monday’s feast day.
