The Greek Meteorological Services (EMY) issued an extraordinary bulletin warning of an extreme wave affecting many regions of the country beginning on Tuesday evening from the north-west. The main characteristics will be heavy rain, storms, and strong south winds, while hail is also forecast for some areas. The phenomena will hit tonight the Ionian Islands, Western mainland Greece, and the Peloponnese.
-For Wednesday morning the regions affected will probably include the Cyclades island group and by mid-day the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese.
Occasional snowfall is expected tonight in the areas of Epirus (over 400-500m altitude), Thessaly and western-central mainland Greece (Sterea-over 600-700m altitude), central Macedonia and lowland areas in eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
On Wednesday, snow is to be expected across the areas of Western and Central Macedonia (mainly Chalkidiki) (higher than 200 metres) and in the afternoon locally in the lowlands of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
