A forest fire that burned through the night on the island of Samos was partially under control, the fire brigade reported on Sunday, according to ANA.
The fire broke out on Saturday evening in Mesokampos, Samos and tourists staying at hotels on the Glykoriza and Proteas beaches, as well as residents of Mesokampos, had been evacuated as a precaution and taken to the Pythagorio indoor stadium by boats and buses.
Four aircraft and two fire-fighting helicopters had also taken part in the operation to put out the fire on Saturday until nightfall.
