An intense temperature inversion occurred early Wednesday on the Greek mainland and particularly in northern Greece, which brought higher temperatures in areas with a high altitude than in areas with a lower altitude, ANA reports.
For example, the temperature in the city of Florina, which has an altitude of 637 m, fell to -4.1C while in neighbouring Mount Voras (2,090 m altitude) the temperature was 8.3C, according to Athens National Observatory meteo weather stations.
