Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis thanked Archbishop Hieronymos of Athens and All Greece for the church’s support in the communal effort to observe coronavirus-related restrictions, including the ban of church services open to the public, in a phone call on Thursday, ANA reports.
The Church of Greece head said the church understands and supports the difficult job the PM has in protecting public health from the pandemic and stated he would be leading the services of Easter as of today (April 16) at the Cathedral of Athens. The services will be held behind closed doors but will be televised for the public.
