A total of 64 forest fires burned in Greece in the last 24 hours, the Fire Brigade said on Friday evening, according to ANA.
They occupied 1,028 firefighters with 331 fire trucks, 19 mountain units, and help by air. The Greek army, police, volunteer firefighters, local water trucks, and heavy machinery operators also contributed to putting out the fires.
Updates from the Fire Brigade noted that the fire that broke out on Wednesday in Kehries, Korinthia prefecture, is still burning in multiple pockets. A total of 485 firefighters with 84 fire trucks are at the location, with another 15 mountain units and a mobile operations center. Furthermore, another 8 helicopters, and several airplanes were dropping water by air until the sunset.
The fire in western Peloponnese, Grammatiko Pyrgou, is ongoing.
