Five dead and two missing after flood on Greek island of Evia

Five persons died in the floods that struck the island of Evia while two others are missing, announced Deputy Civil Protection and Crises Management Minister Nikos Hardalias after a meeting on Sunday at the town hall of Vasiliko, according to ANA.

Among the victims are an 8-month-old infant and an elderly couple in the village of Politika while two other persons died in their attempt to escape the flood.

Fire Brigade’s operations to rescue those trapped by the floods on Evia continue on Sunday while the whole mechanism is on alert as the Meteorological Service forecast that the adverse weather phenomena are expected to continue until Sunday afternoon.
