The procedures for the conversion of the existing reception and identification centers into closed and controlled facilities on the islands of Lesvos and Chios are underway, the Ministry of Migration and Asylum said in a statement on Thursday, according to ANA.
Referring to the creation of closed-type hosting structures on Lesvos and Chios, Migration and Asylum Minister Notis Mitarachi said in an interview with the radio station “Skai 100.3 FM”, that they will provide better living conditions and special areas for unaccompanied minors and single parents, while there is provision for a facility to hold people due to be returned.
Procedures for closed-type facilities in Samos, Kos, and Leros are progressing.
