All migrants currently staying at the temporary Kara Tepe reception and identification center on Lesvos island have been interviewed and a decision on whether they have been granted asylum or not has been made and is pending delivery, according to a letter by Migration & Asylum Minister Notis Mitarachi publicized on Thursday, ANA reports.
Mitarachi also unveiled that the Kara Tepe hotspot, erected on public land, will shut down and be turned over to the residents “within the next few weeks.” Its facilities will be moved to a new area of nearly 240 stremmas (24 hectares) at the borders of the city of Mitilini. Currently, Kara Tepe, which was set up after the Moria hotspot burned down, also hosts individuals whose resettlement to Germany has been approved.
