The number of vehicles that passed through the tolls leading into and out of Athens increased during the last 24 hours, police announced on Thursday morning, adding that 273 vehicles were turned back at Elefsina and Afidnes because they lacked the necessary documents for travel, ANA reports.
They added that 16,400 vehicles left Athens between 6:00 on Wednesday and 6:00 on Thursday, while 13,840 passed in the opposite direction, up from 13,633 and 12,423, respectively, the previous day. At Afidnes, 18,809 vehicles went through the tolls heading out of Athens and 16,823 going toward the city, up from 17,567 and 16,651, respectively, the previous day.
