Europe’s official portal of food and gastronomy tourism “TastingEurope.com” was presented by the European Travel Commission (ETC) during the Food Tourism Week on September 28-30.
The site is focused on the European culinary stage featuring useful data on its whole scope from European events and festivals to haute cuisine fans’ routes and special brands.
The ETC publicized the modern profile of the culinary science traveler touring Europe from various overseas source markets during the 1st UNWTO World Forum on Food Tourism organized in San Sebasti?n, Spain.
National contrasts
In this profile research, North American tourists who are interested in culture and history also tend to taste traditional gastronomy but the Chinese, on the contrary, choose their own cuisine even when abroad.
At the same time, Canadian and American visitors insist on quality and prefer the wines and beers of Europe. Finally, Brazilian travelers place special emphasis on food and eating experiences, while participation in gastronomy festivals and open markets and sampling local specialties are favored by Russian tourists.
