Amorgos sends large "cauldrons" to Naxos to beat fried potatoes world record

The “Express Skopelitis” ferry, which plies the route of the Small Cyclades islands in Greece, carried six large “cauldrons” to Naxos from Amorgos, on Thursday.

They will be used by Naxos potato producers to break the Guinness World Record of the largest serving of fried potatoes.

The Naxian islanders needed extra cauldrons apart from those on the island, as they would have to fry 550 kilos of potatoes at the same time. For this reason they sought traditional utensils from Aegiali of Amorgos and brought them to their island. The Guinness record will be broken at the 8th Naxos Potato Festival on July 15th.

Naxos island in Greece is famous for its potatoes among many other things.
